July 21/2018 – March 2019 The Big Us Collaborative
Peace hosted the 1st Greet and Meet gathering on July 21.
THE BIG “US” PROJECT invites children and adults in Houston’s refugee communities to lead the creation of a large-scale performance piece that will be shared with the entire Houston community. You will be working with Houston artists Troy Scheid (theatre), Rachel Dickson (theatre), Neda Khan (visual arts), and Sophia Torres (dance). The performance will be presented in March 2019. This project is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.

Goal is to help refugee artists improve their marketing skills and learn new methods of producing and exhibiting their artworks
Objective: learn how to receive notification of art events, network, meet new artists and find out how to get fund.
Activity. The project will take five refugee artists to three art facilities. The prospect galleries are The Menil Collection, Station Houston, and The Fine Art Museum. a paragraph. Drag me to add paragraph to your block, write your own text and edit me.

THREADS OF PEACE 7/2016
Threads of Peace
The piece you hold in your hands was designed and sewn by a woman artist from Afghanistan, a country where embroidery holds deep cultural significance. This art form enables the artist to express herself and her heritage, using techniques that have been passed down for generations to tell stories through the medium of thread and cloth. By expressing herself in this way, the artist uses her embroidery as a form of therapy to process the trauma of war. By purchasing this one of a kind item, you are helping a refugee artist earn a living, foster her creativity.
